I also love this idea. All Hallow's Read. Check out the video to see what it's about.
So to celebrate All Hallow's Read I'm doing a giveaway. I want to make sure that you get your book around Halloween so I'll pick a winner this weekend.
Up for grabs is
1. Coraline by Neil Gaiman
This is a paperback copy I just found at my neighborhood book sale. It's in great condition.
2. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
I passed this copy to my writing group for All Hallow's Read last year. It made it's way back to me. It's a paperback and there is a slight bend in the cover.
* The idea behind All Hallow's Read is to give a scary book. It doesn't have to be a Neil Gaiman book but that is what I have.
3. $10 Starbucks Gift Card-
I know this isn't a book but October is also Disability Awareness Month and Starbucks had gift cards with Braille. My mom is a puppy raiser for Leader Dogs for the Blind and I wrote a picture book manuscript about a guide dog. I submitted my manuscript this month to a publisher and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Celebrating and hoping = coffee gift card.
If you don't win don't worry. Just look at these cute puppy pictures of past and current puppies-in-training.
Hammond
Future Leader Dog, Molly
If you find those puppies as irresistible as I do you can help sponsor a Guide Dog puppy at Dog's Eye View.
To enter the giveaway leave a comment and tell me which prize you'd like to win. Tell me your favorite scary book. I'll pick a winner on Saturday, 10/22.

3, please! I already have the books. Cute puppies! I'll cross my fingers for your success!
Neil is the man. I've only read Neverwhere and Anansi Boys, but I love his storytelling.
That video had me laughing. This is a great idea. As the bookshelves are overflowing, I'd like the gift card.
What a cute picture of Hammond and Molly ! You are awesome and creative.
Molly is so cute! But it made me laugh a little because... did you know that molly is also another name for female cats?
My favorite scary book is Frankenstein Moved in on the 4th Floor. I read it to my class around this time every year when I was a teacher. I would love the gift card. I meet with my critique group at Starbucks. Coincidence? I don't think so. Good luck with your book. I am shopping around a picture book about a Therapy Dog, based on my experience having my dog, Cupcake certified. Seeing eye dogs are the coolest and smartest dogs ever. Cupcake is cool - not smart. My first published book was Keep Your Ear on the Ball. It's about a blind boy in a sighted classroom. Coincidence? Yeah - I don't think so.
This is my 11 year-old daughter, Linnaea: My favorite scary book was M is for Magic by Neil Gaiman. I listened to it on CD, but definitely NOT before bed!
Me: I am looking at that book I let her listen to and am wondering if it was even meant for children! What kind of mother AM I??
If you chooses us, we would like the book Coraline, so as to complete Linnaea's introduction to Neil Gaiman (she already read The Graveyard Book).
Thanks!
-Amber and Linnaea
Gosh - all the prizes look great. And I never read any of Neil's books, so that would be a great introduction. The scariest book I've ever read and enjoyed was The Shining...the movie didn't compare! Plus I was working in Boulder when I read it...had to sleep with the hall light on!
I'd love the Graveyard book! I own Coraline already and would love another of Neil's books. My favorite scary book has to be the classic Dracula. :)

Yay! Fun contest! My favorite scary book is Grover and The Monster at the end of this book book. :)
And I've never read anything by Neil Gaiman (I know - I'm sad) so I'm up for any of the prizes.
Thanks!
What a fun idea, thanks!!! My favorite scary book is probably The Shining by Stephen King, it scared me to no end. I love everything about October and this time of year too.
And best of luck with your manuscript, I will keep my fingers crossed you get good news on that soon! Molly is such a doll!
I've never read Coraline so I would love that if I am lucky enough to win. Thanks for the opportunity! :)
Love to have the starbucks gift card! Fav scary is The Birds, man am I old! LOL tracietrump@yahoo.com
