H- Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter, # 1) H- Harry Potter. I couldn't do n H post without talking about the boy who lived. Harry is a brave and steps up to the challenge of fighting Voldemort with the help of his friends and his school. Not only did he inspire a generation of readers who grew up with him these books also inspired many writers who want to write wonderful, magical stories for children.

What is your favorite thing about Harry?  Did these books inspire or encourage you to write?

Your quilt is stunning. Yes, JK Rowling and her magical story sparked all kinds of creativity and hope in me. My favorite thing about the books is that it gave kids, especially boys, a story they longed to read. I saw them lugging those hefty books around, sitting out in cars or parks or in the middle of sports events completely absorbed in the life of Hogwarts. That is the true magic of these books. JK Rowling is my hero.

Lovely quilt! My 10 year old is absolutely enamored with Harry's world - it has piqued her interest in reading, and in writing as well. Her class recently had a writing exercise where they had to write a letter to their favorite author, so she picked Rowling. I asked her what her question was, and she said simply: "I want to know how she decided who was going to live, and who was going to die. Why Fred and not George?"I thought that was a pretty good question! Enjoy your A to Z-ing!

I agree with Mary. As a teacher, any book that gets kids reading is special. I remember reading the first book with a group of 6th graders-their enthusiasm was palpable. It's something I've never forgotten.

Oh! The quilt! I don't think I saw its completed form. It's awesome. As is Harry.

I am ashamed to admit I have not read the books. I need to remedy that one of these days. I loved the movies though. I sure would love to end up with Rowling's career one of these days.

I'm late to the Harry Potter love train, but I'm finally aboard it :D I've only read the first one so far, but I intend to read ALL of them eventually. I am going to get them on e-reader (which I think they are available on e-reader, right??) and then I'll back to you on if I'm inspired or not.
