Hometown Love

I've lived in Minnesota for 12 years but I grew up in the Quad Cities. I lived on both the Illinois and Iowa side of the Mississippi River. Last week President Obama visited my hometown and enjoyed a local restaurant.
Here's a video

While the Magic Mountain is awesome I prefer the Maid Rite as my hometown food that lets me know I'm home. I also need to eat Smurf ice cream from Whitey's, it is blue and has little marshmallows in it. The closest I can find to it outside of the QC is a flavor called Blue Moon, blue but without the marshmallows.
Where did you grow up? What is your favorite food from your hometown?

I'm busy revising, rereading Harry Potter and rewatching the Harry Potter movies. I'm reading book 5 and I got a little weepy during the chapter The Woes of Mrs. Weasley.

Nothing brings back memories of home like food, does it? Also music and smells bring it back, too.

Oh my gosh, the magic mountain ingredients made me laugh. :D I think I would gain 10 lbs just looking at one!

I grew up in Cincinnati, where I live again now. My favorite hometown food is Graeter's ice cream, it's the best ice cream I've ever had. The Smurf ice cream sounds good though!

Thinking of my hometown reminds me of the red mountains and thunderstorms in the desert. I also remember every fourth of July the pronto pups that we would eat yum yum!

Even though I didn't move there until high school, I consider East Tennessee the home of my heart. A favorite food is biscuits and sausage gravy with maybe a slice of country ham. Not so good for me, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I loved this! Thank you for sharing.

I don't have a specific food that reminds me of home, though I do love a traditional English Sunday roast.

All of these foods sound awesome. I've been avoiding gluten and seeing the pronto pups on here has made me think that maybe what I need to do with my life is start a gluten free pronto pup and mini donut stand at the MN State Fair.
